He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl Benson Rollins and Faun Mildred Misener Rollins of Miami, FL and wife Martha Louise (Bunni) McNeely Rollins.
John delighted in being "GrandJohn" to MaryAnne's family including Jeff and Sherry Taylor and their daughters Lauren Ploof (Chad, Bella and Ethan) and Samantha Taylor-Hicks (Fuller) as well as Roger and Rebecca Taylor and their sons Nelson, Maxwell and Cameron.
ALL of Johns family cherished his adventurous, fun-loving, and active way of living life to the fullest.
John was born on Feb. 2, 1942, grew up in Miami, graduated from Miami High (Class of 1960) as part of the Championship Football team, then attended the University of Florida (1960-61). John was a Submariner in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1961-1971; continuing his service in the Naval Reserve until 1984. After the military, he worked in several capacities at the TVA from 1971-1994; and the Chattanooga Realty Company from 1995-1997.
Outside of work, John was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church and was the President and Trip Captain of the Chattanooga Ski Club. He was a volunteer at the TVA Raccoon Mountain facility and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. He enjoyed travel, cruising, skiing, and the "Front Porch Happy Hour" in their Colonial Shores neighborhood. His sense of humor and easy going attitude will be missed.
