Chattanooga Funeral Home is recognizing two employees for 20 years of service.

At 82 years old, Larry Davis is commemorating 20 years as a Chattanooga Funeral Home associate. Mr. Davis has spent most of his life serving and helping people.

Mr. Davis served his country four years in the Air Force and remembers the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early 60’s. Mr. Davis was stationed in Texas when the U.S. was brought to the brink of war and he wasn’t sure what might happen. Mr.
Davis said, “It’s was a scary time, I wasn’t sure if Khrushchev was going to blink or nod.”

Mr. Davis worked for the East Ridge Police Department for over 20 years, both as a street officer and detective. Mr. Davis said, “I met Funeral Director Mike Blevins while he was a court watcher and we became good friends. After retirement from the police department, there was an opening at the East Chapel and Mr. Blevins hired me.”

Chattanooga Funeral Home President Gene Pike said, “Mr. Davis has been a faithful and dedicated employee, very compassionate. He’s helped so many families during the most difficult time of their life.”

East Chapel Location Manager Mike Blevins said Mr. Davis is an awesome employee. "I’m so glad he chose to work for me. We’ll be having cake and coffee later in the day to honor his 20 years,” Mr. Blevins said.

Care Center Manager Chase Williams is also recognized for 20 years with the Chattanooga Funeral Home. Mr. Williams said he became interested in funeral service work while a student at the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences.

The Chattanooga native graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Services. He saw an open house advertisement for CFH’s new crematory and inquired about a job.

Mr. Williams was hired and has worked for Chattanooga Funeral Home his entire professional career.

CFH Vice President Stephen Pike said, “Mr. Williams is a committed manager, focused on service management. He has a strong work ethic dedicated to service excellence. We are honored to have him on our team.”
