Three Lee Athletes Named Player Of The Week

After a strong week for the Lee University softball team, Freshman Hailey Simco was named Gulf South Conference freshman of the week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

In the three games against Union, Simco had a strong showing. She was 4-for13 at the plate this week with three hits. Simco scored twice and had two runs batted in. She was also 2-for-2 in stolen bases.

After helping lead the Lee University Lacrosse team to a Gulf South Conference win over the University of Montevallo, Kelsey McGowen was named GSC defender of the week after her defensive performance.

In the 14-11 win over UM, the Lady Flames forced the Falcons into 17 turnovers and had 24 ground balls. McGowen had four of the ground balls and four caused turnovers in the win over UM.

After helping lead the Lee University baseball team to a 3-1 week, Riley Black has been named Gulf South Conference player of the week as announced by the league on Tuesday.

 He hit .500 going 6-for-12 at the plate. Five of his six hits were for extra bases. He had two doubles, one triple, and two home runs for a 1.333 slugging percentage over the four games. He had nine RBI and four runs scored. He was walked twice and did not strike out. Defensively as a catcher, he had 24 putouts and three assists with no errors.
