Jonathan "Joey" L. Rogers, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his residence.

He graduated from Howard High School, Class of 1971, where he was on the Howard High Marching 100’s Band. He worked as a transporter for the Boys Club for some years. He then went to Alton Park Health Center, where he was a transporter until he started working inside Erlanger Hospital transporting medications floor to floor, before retiring. He attended Westside Baptist Church under Caesar Bonner.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Rogers; grandparents, John and Daisy Finley; special uncles John Finley, Jr. and Robert “Uncle Bubble” Finley, Sr.; special aunts, Aunt Jessie and Aunt Catherine; other uncles and aunts.

Those left to cherish his memories include his son, Kevin Rogers, of Chattanooga; daughter, Demitra Rogers; grandson, DeSean Beasley; granddaughter Lia Rogers, all of Atlanta; mother, Elizabeth Finley, of Chattanooga; god-sister, Gwen Elaine Taylor; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jonathan will lie in state on Thursday, July 25, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 26, at 12:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
