On Easter Sunday morning, Betty Joyce Roebuck Wilser went to heaven to be with her risen Savior, Jesus. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother who will be missed dearly by family, friends and her precious cats.

As the Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8 - “In fact, we are confident, and we would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord”.

Betty was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Queens, N.Y. She was attending Calvary Baptist Church in Manhattan, N.Y. when she met her future husband of 62 years, Rev. Dr. Joseph Wilser. They moved to Chattanooga in 1976. Betty was a longtime member of Brainerd Baptist Church where she loved teaching in the children’s ministry.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents, Alfred & Ethel Roebuck; her brother, Al Roebuck; her sister, Joan (Raymond) Bell and nephews, Bruce Bell and Paul Bell; and several in-laws.

Betty’s memory will be cherished by her surviving husband, Joe; her son, Glenn (Debbye) Wilser; grandsons, Aaron Wilser and Logan Wilser; daughter, Elizabeth Wilser; sister-in-law; Joan Roebuck, niece, Debbie (Ira) Chilowitz and children; nephew, John Roebuck; and Wilser family in-laws.

The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Curtis Hill officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
