Covenant Track And Field Competes At Emory Dooley Elite

For the second weekend in a row, Covenant traveled to Emory for a meet, this one being the Emory Dooley Elite. Covenant continued to show steady progress and even broke a few school records on a nice Saturday in Georgia's capital. In the team score, the women placed fifth while the men's team was eighth. 

Sophia Wiersema posted a throw of 10.30m in the Shot Put to place seventh and set a new school record.  Emma Christensen won first place in the High Jump with a mark of 1.50m. The senior also competed in the 200m where she posted a time of 27.74m to place 20th.

Daehla Smith was in two individual events for the Scots as she placed 20th with a time of 13.64 in the 100m and finished 12th in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.39m. Evangelia Berry led a group of three runners in the 1500m, finishing seventh with a personal-record time of 4:57.77.

The other two runners in the 1500m for Covenant were Emerson Tillery (13th, 5:19.40) and Claire Mellott (14th, 5:33.44). Covenant had four runners compete in the 800m: Sarah Olson (9th, 2:26.90), Sophia Velleco (12th, 2:33.72), Kenzi Stapleton (13th, 2:34.35), and Kali Hina (26th, 3:06.01).

The team of Smith, Swinburnson, Velleco, and Christensen raced in the 4x100m relay and finished sixth with a time of 52.29 for a new school record. Sarah Holler placed eighth in the pole vault with a jump of 2.70m and fifth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.35m.

Josephine Swinburnson led the Scots in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.44m to finish 11th.
Wiersema placed third in the Javelin Throw with a throw of 27.74m while Elie Berndy finished fourth with a mark of 21.33m. Berndt also competed in the Triple Jump (5th, 9.63m) and the Long Jump (14th, 4.06m).

Josiah Mellott led the men with a new school record in the 800m with a school-record time of 1:58.04. Covenant sent nine runners in the 1500m and were led by Ethan Saiki who posted a time of 4:09.20 to place ninth.

In the 3000m event, Jacob Howington posted a personal-record time of 9:35.77 to finish fourth. The other eight runners finished as follows: Ethan Caswell (16th, 4:22.16), Chandler Lines (17th, 4:23.21), Jack Dupree (21st, 4:24.63), John Purtill (23rd, 4:28.15), Alex Burns (25th, 4:30.12), Andor Agustsson (26th, 4:30.40), Aidan DeVries (27th, 4:31.71), and Samuel Harrelson (28th, 4:35.00).

Covenant's lone participant in the 400m was Trey Faulk as he placed 15th with a time of 54.05.
Codey Parrish represented Covenant in the throwing events placing 12th in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.08m and 15th in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 29.12m.

Covenant competes in the Berry Field Day Invitational on Thursday and Friday of next week.
