SORBA Chattanooga, the nonprofit organization dedicated to building, maintaining and advocating for mountain bike accessible trails across the greater Chattanooga region, Thursday announced it is hiring a full-time director of development - a milestone position that reflects the organization's rapid growth and long-term ambitions.
The director of development will lead SORBA Chattanooga's fundraising strategy, overseeing individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants and special events.
The role will work closely with the executive director and board of directors to build diversified, sustainable revenue that supports the organization's trail stewardship, education and community programs.
"Chattanooga has one of the most exciting trail ecosystems in the Southeast, and we're at a pivotal moment in our ability to protect and expand it," said Sunshine Loveless, executive director of SORBA Chattanooga. "Bringing on a director of development means we can build the kind of fundraising foundation that ensures these trails are here for generations to come."
"The announcement comes on the heels of a transformative 2025 for the organization, which hired its first executive director, grew membership by more than 30 percent, expanded its board and committee structure, and significantly increased volunteer engagement and trail stewardship across more than 100 miles of trail," officials said.
The director of development position is full-time and home-based within the SORBA Chattanooga service area, with a salary range of $45,000–$55,000, commensurate with experience. Health benefits and 401(k) are available. SORBA Chattanooga is an equal opportunity employer.
Candidates with three to five years of nonprofit fundraising experience and a passion for outdoor recreation and community engagement are encouraged to apply. The full job description and application are available at sorbachattanooga.org/careers.
