Charlyne E. Clonts, 81, of Chattanooga died in a local hospital on Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.
Born in Bakewell, she was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School and McKenzie Business School. She retired as an executive secretary from TVA in 1984 after 28 years. She was a 60-year member of White Oak Baptist Church and a member of the Saved to Serve Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar M. Clonts; parents, Charles and Percey Ziegler Early; and sister, Evelyn Turner.
She is survived by her son, Col. K. David Clonts and daughter-in-law, Linda Draper Clonts of Orange, Va.; daughter, Susan Clonts Fischer of Knoxville; and sister, Janice E. Cordell of Vandalia, Ohio; her grandchildren are Angela C. Snyder of Virginia Beach, Va., Kenneth D. Clonts Jr. of Alexandria, Va., and Meredith F. Hayes of Knoxville; and one great-grandson, Micah Hayes.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Rev. Stan Braley officiating.
Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.
