William M. Batey, 67, of Rossville, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2003.
Mr. Batey was a lifelong resident of Rossville and attended the Noble Church of God. He was a member of the Thompkins Masonic Lodge #466 F&AM and retired from Gaither Machine Works with 32 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Gladys Batey; and brother, Lloyd Batey.
Survivors include his wife, Prinel Batey; son, Lebron Batey of Sylvania, Ala.; step-children, Peggy Wortman of LaFayette, Melissa Marsh of Kensington, Gregory Higdon of Lookout Mountain; brothers, Raymond Batey of Sylvania, Ala., Joe Batey of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the South Crest Chapel with Brother Terry Avans, Rev. Henry Hampton and Rev. David Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. on Thursday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
