James Fulton Scott, 78, of Chattanooga, died at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004.
Mr. Scott was born in Green Hill, AL. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from TVA after 32 years.
In retirement, he volunteered for both the Red Cross and the BVI. Mr. Scott was a member of Green Hill Methodist Church in Green Hill, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe M. and Ollie Powers Scott; sister, Mamie Perry; brother, Joe M. Scott Jr., and a grandson, James Ashley Scott.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Olive Scott; two sons, Larry and wife, Janice, Don and wife, Donna; daughter, Deborah Smart and husband, David, all of Chattanooga ; grandchildren, Chris (Kristi) Scott, Wade (Candice) Scott of Boynton Beach, FL, Amy (Matt) Millsaps of Jackson, TN, Brad, Andrew and Caleb Scott, Angela and Ken Ledford; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Trevor Scott, Turner Millsaps, and Katie Knox; sister, Mae (Ed) White of Green Hill, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, in the North Chapel with the Rev. Bill Smith of Rogersville, AL, officiating.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Jim.
