On Saturday afternoons the Vaudeville Café at 138 Market Street has a children's show entitled Mystery of the Time Machine. The show features Pirates with swords, Cowboys of the Wild West, and Star Wars-type characters (even Darth Vader) with light sabers.

We took our four-year-old grandson, William, to see the show and he was fine until they wanted him to be part of it. He was asked to be the doctor and was all excited until the show started. Then he started getting nervous and, almost crying, said "Grammie, I don't want to do it." After we told them he was backing out, he was right back into the spirit of things. He enjoyed the show, laughing and clapping - even getting up to dance with the Cowboys!

The pizza wasn't bad either. It wasn't the greatest, but it was good for the kids. I like a little more cheese on mine, but I suppose if it had been really cheesy, the kids would have had a problem eating it without making a huge mess.

I ordered a salad - the guy said it was "great." It was just a regular salad of iceberg lettuce. Nothing special - but for $3 it was OK.

During the show the servers came around with little bags containing two cookies for our dessert.

The show is $12 per person and includes the show, pizza (several varieties), drink (soft drinks only) and dessert. If you have children, they will love the show and have a good, energetic and noisy time. William said he had fun and would like to go back. He thought it was funny that the "suit of armor" scared Grammie (Wayne also thought it was funny).

The Vaudeville Cafe features Mystery at the Nightmare High School Reunion on Thursdays at 7 p.m.; Mystery at the TV Talk Show on Fridays at 7 p.m.; Mystery of the Time Machine Saturdays at 1 p.m.; and Mystery at the Redneck-Italian Wedding Saturdays at 6 p.m. If the 6 Saturday show is full, they will offer an 8:30 p.m. show. They are closed on Sunday.
