After four consecutive losses to the Smokies, three of them by a wide margin, the Lookouts were finally able to exact some revenge with an 11-1 victory on Saturday night. The Smokies had put together several big innings throughout the week. On Saturday it was a seven run seventh inning for Chattanooga to help them pull away.
Jay Allen II got the scoring started in the bottom of the third scoring Austin Callahan on a sacrifice fly. In the fourth Cade Hunter singled home a run and Callahan had an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 3-0. Dominic Pitelli later plated Hunter on a single in the sixth.
Cam Collier singled twice in a wild seventh inning that included four Lookouts hitters walking, a wild pitch, a hit by pitch, an error and five singles, all of which led to seven runs for Chattanooga.
On the mound starting pitcher Kevin Abel had one of his best performances throwing five shutout innings. He struck out four and scattered five hits.
The series finale is Sunday afternoon at 2:15 at AT&T Field. The Lookouts will be off on Monday before traveling to first place Birmingham for a series beginning Tuesday night.
