Lanny Claude Landers, 80, of Red Bank, Tennessee, died peacefully on August 1, 2025, with his family by his side.

A lifelong resident of Red Bank, Lanny was born on Nov. 17, 1944 at Erlanger Hospital to Claude and Verna Elliott Landers. Lanny graduated Red Bank High School in 1962, studied business at Bryan College and received an accounting degree from Edmondson Business College. On April 18, 1970, he married the love of his life, Christine Pickett of Whitwell, Tn. The two moved to Athens, Ga. before returning to Red Bank, where they raised a son and daughter.

Starting out in Winn-Dixie and Shop-Rite grocery stores, Lanny was employed by Cavalier Corporation and Frito-Lay Corporation. He retired from Southern Champion Tray in 2011, after 11 years of dedicated service.

Lanny was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and proudly served his country, with a tour of duty in the Vietnam War, later joining the 3397 Army Garrison.

Throughout his life, Lanny was active in the Red Bank Christian community. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts and was a member of the DeMolays and Lions Club. Most recently, he was a member and deacon of White Oak Baptist Church, where he and Christine were blessed to be part of a loving church.

Lanny is preceded in death by parents, Claude and Verna Elliott Landers.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Christine; their children, David Landers (Joseph Chavez) and Lisa Henderson (Kevin Henderson); twin sister, Linda Landers Dolive; and cousin, Bonnie McDow Kimble (Ed Kimble). Lanny is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and his grand-dog, Evan.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Kemp, Dr. Chriag Patel and their medical staff; Hearth Hospice, particularly Nurses Cindy and Kelce; and caregiver, Denise, for their compassion and kindness to Lanny and Christine these past years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Aug. 8 at 12:30 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home, with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with military honors.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m., and on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
