Grant, Lester Davis

Lester Davis Grant, 97, of East Ridge, died on Saturday, November 11, 2006 in a local hospital.

He was a charter member of East Ridge Church of the Nazarene where he had held the office of Sunday School Superintendent and Treasurer and had also been the Song Leader and a Sunday School Teacher.

He was past District Treasurer for the East Tennessee Church of the Nazarene and an active supporter of many Christian organizations. Mr. Grant was a graduate of the Baylor School and attended Maryville College. He was retired as president of Architectural Mill & Lumber Company.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah B. Grant and his second wife, Sarah V. Grant.

He is survived by one son, John Grant and wife, Susan of Red Bank, Tn.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gray, Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, David Grant and wife Erin, Becky Carroll and husband Tim, Wendy Oates and husband Todd and Amy Franklin; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel P. Grant, Charlotte, N.C.; and one niece.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist with the Rev. Charles Knight, the Rev. Bob Hoots and the Rev. James Ericson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the East Chapel, 404 South Moore Rd.
