A former Channel 9 meteorologist is battling a rare form of cancer and is also pregnant, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Ms. Greer, 27, is afflicted with a tumor on her cervix, the newspaper said.

The meteorologist at WBTV-TV (Channel 3) in Charlotte , is also nearly six months pregnant with her first child.

The newspaper said doctors plan to remove the child, Connor Edward Polsky, when his lungs are developed enough. She will then undergo a hysterectomy.

The native of Abbeville, S.C., graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina, then got a geosciences degree at Mississippi State.

The article says she met 33-year-old restaurant manager Roger Polsky in May and they had a whirlwind courtship. They were married in September.

The cancer was discovered in November, Doctors said it might not have been found in time had she not become pregnant.
