Publix Opens First Chattanooga Store

Publix Super Markets will open its first store in Chattanooga on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The store is located at the entrance to the Hurricane Creek subdivision at
8644 East Brainerd Road.

There will be a 9 a.m. ribbon cutting.

In addition to the traditional grocery, meat, produce, dairy and frozen food departments, the 45,042-square-foot store will contain the following full-service departments: pharmacy, bakery, deli, and fresh seafood.

The new store will also feature sushi, self-checkout, full-service meat case, full-service floral department, Mediterranean Oven Venue (Italian Type foods), hand-crafted sandwiches, custom salads, and will serve as a Ticketmaster outlet.

Approximately 110 Publix associates will be employed at the store.

Store hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Publix is privately owned and operated by its 143,000 employees, with 2006 sales of $21.7 billion.

Currently Publix has 918 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
