Collegedale: A Small Town With So Much To Offer

  • Thursday, August 21, 2025

Sometimes it’s easy to overlook the treasures right in our own backyard. But when you take a moment to step back, it becomes clear just how special it is to live in Collegedale, Tn. As a city commissioner, I have the privilege of seeing our community from many different angles—and I can tell you, there’s so much to be proud of here.

We are fortunate to have miles of beautiful greenways that invite you to walk, bike or simply enjoy a peaceful afternoon outdoors. Our public spaces are safe and welcoming, with multiple inclusive playgrounds for children of all ages—including the gem of Little Debbie Park. Pickleball courts, open fields and family-friendly amenities make it easy to stay active and connected. And when you need a moment of reflection, Veterans Park is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served, complete with memorial statues and flags from every state.

Community life thrives here. The Commons hosts a wide variety of fun events year-round, while the local library keeps families engaged through programs like the summer reading challenge. Even our municipal airport gets in on the action, bringing neighbors together for movie nights under the stars.

And when it comes to dining, Collegedale doesn’t disappoint. From cozy restaurants to a wide variety of cuisines, you’ll never be far from a good meal—or a great slice of pizza. Add in the abundance of dentists, doctors’ offices, and other essential services, and you realize just how well this small town takes care of its people.

Safety is another blessing we sometimes take for granted. Here, you don’t think twice about leaving the door unlocked. If there’s an emergency, Tri-Comm and Hamilton County EMS respond swiftly. And if a child ever goes missing, every available police officer—including the chief—will be out searching until they’re found. That’s what it means to live in a true community.

Collegedale is also a town that looks outward with generosity. Churches, nonprofits and local volunteers regularly rally to provide thousands of pounds of food, clothing, and furniture to places like the Samaritan Center and the Apison Food Pantry. It’s a place where lending a hand is part of the culture.

For a town of our size, we’re also rich in educational opportunities. With a thriving university, excellent public and private schools, and homeschool co-ops, anyone who wants to learn can find a place here.

It’s no wonder so many people are moving to our area—and moving to Tennessee in general. Collegedale offers the perfect balance of small-town charm and big opportunities. Safe, caring and community-driven, it’s a place worth celebrating.

Sometimes we just need to pause and appreciate what we already have. And in Collegedale, we truly have so much. I’m proud to serve the people of this community. If you love living here too, think about getting involved—maybe by serving on one of our city boards like Parks & Rec, Library, or Airport. And if being a board member isn’t for you, that’s fine too—just start making plans to enjoy the Christmas parade with your family and neighbors. That’s the beauty of Collegedale: there’s a place for everyone to belong.
