Dr. Randy Sheeks
Dr. Randy Sheeks, professor of music and worship, has been named dean of the Lee University School of Music.
“Dr. Randy Sheeks brings tremendous respect to his new role as dean of the School of Music – both personally and professionally,” said Dr. Debbie Murray, Lee provost. “His reputation as a gifted musician and compassionate individual is widely known."
Dr. Sheeks has been part of the School of Music since 2010, most recently serving as associate dean, and draws on more than two decades of experience in both higher education and church music leadership.
“Music has always been a major part of the Lee experience,” said Dr.
Sheeks. “The School of Music is poised to build on our history and be the best music school in this region. We have the faculty, drive, and heart to perform at a higher level than ever in these next few years. I’m excited to step into this leadership role as dean.”
Dr. Sheeks has served in local church music ministry for 23 years, including roles at Cathedral of Praise in Sylvania, Ohio; Metropolitan Church of God in Birmingham, Al.; and Mount Paran North Church in Marietta, Ga. In 2004, he received the Distinguished Musicianship Award from the Church of God for his work at Metropolitan Church.
Dr. Sheeks succeeds Dr. Bill Green, who recently concluded a 14-year tenure as dean.
“Dr. Sheeks brings to his appointment as dean a rich background of experience and service in music and worship along with deep commitment to the mission of Lee University,” said Dr. Jean Eledge, vice president for Academic Affairs at Lee. “We look forward to his vision, leadership, and impact in the School of Music and for the entire campus.”
Dr. Randy Sheeks and his wife, Debbie, have been actively involved in music ministry and are well known across the Lee campus. They are the parents of two adult daughters, Elizabeth and Meredith.
