For the second straight evening, Bradley Central held off a strong challenge to claim a big volleyball victory.
After getting past 2024 Class AA Final Four Signal Mountain Monday at home, Coach Christie McElhaney's 31st Bearette squad hit the road to take on new District 6-AAA member Soddy Daisy Tuesday, coming away with another hard-fought 3-1 victory.
Despite opening with good nine- and seven-point wins (25-16, 25-18), Bradley knew host Soddy Daisy wouldn't go quietly, as the Lady Trojans took the third set 25-20 before the Bearettes prevailed in a tooth-and-nail 25-23 final set.
Bradley got in 89.4% of its serves, with 15 aces, drilling 34 kills in the victory, digging out 92 shots, challenging 23 hits at the net, blocking five, including three in the tie-breaker.
The senior duo of Addison Stuman and Lilly Stewart led the Bradley attack with Stuman handing out 18 assists, digging out 11 shots, blasting eight spikes and drilling a trio of aces in her nine good serves.
Stewart helped out with 28 digs, three aces, while putting 94.4% of her 18 serves between the lines and downing seven kills.
Junior Jenna Belcher put 96.3% of her 27 serves in play, collecting five aces, plus she dug out 20 shots, while classmate Lilly Winters dished out nine assists, had five digs and an ace.
Sophomores My'Ryah Greenwood and Adelyn Goins, plus junior Tabitha Eaves each collected five downed slams apiece.
Junior libero Wyatt Powell helped out with nine digs and a trio of aces.
Bradley will host county-rival Walker Valley Thursday before heading to the Showdown at the Sunsphere, in Knoxville this weekend.
Soddy Daisy will travel to East Hamilton for another district match Thursday.
