CHARLESTON, Tenn. -- A late adjustment to the season-opening opponent couldn't deter Walker Valley, which opened the new TSSAA soccer season by holding Silverdale Baptist Academy scoreless, Tuesday evening at "the MAC."
With Concord Christian Academy unable to play, the Lady Mustangs. got the Lady Seahawks to step in and promptly handed them a 3-0 shutout.
The match's first goal came when AC Blackaby sent a corner kick in front of the net and teammate Gabbi Cresswell headed it past the Silverdale goalkeeper.
The second goal was scored by Keatie Davies, who intercepted a pass from a Silverdale centerback in front of their goal and poked into the net.
The final score was the result of "a great dribbling run by Lyla Sims through several Silverdale defenders, which ended by passing to AC Blackaby on the back post to put it away," WV head coach Austin Waddell related.
The coach also praised goalkeeper Izzy Argauer, who had three saves to the shutout.
