ERMC, a national facility maintenance services provider headquartered in Chattanooga has released two new products which will allow customers in the airline industry to gain efficiencies and improve financial losses related to lost baggage, officials said. The announcement was made at the Aviation Industry Expo in Dallas.
The company serves airlines and airport authorities in the U.S., providing design, installation and maintenance services for baggage handling conveyors. With regional offices in Dallas, ERMC has contracts with DFW International Airport, Dallas Love Field and Southwest Airlines, as well as working in over 30 airport facilities around the country.
“We believe both these products are cutting-edge, not only with their ability to drastically improve the experience of the air traveler, but also the tremendous potential to save our customers in the airline industry millions of dollars by avoiding lost baggage incidents.” said Bill Capps, director, ERMC Aviation Services Division.
One of the new products is a software system which controls and monitors every aspect of a baggage handling conveyor system. It not only provides alarms, notification and reporting related to a jam or problem in any section of conveyor, it also allows control of the system to occur from a central location including diagnostics and configuration, all in a very user-friendly format.
The second product provides cameras which photograph baggage as it passes from ticket counter to airplane. By linking the digital image of the bag with the airline-provided bar code tag, baggage can be more easily identified and located.
ERMC has piloted the new camera system with Southwest Airlines at Dallas Love Field. “Things have gone really well with the pilot and we’re certainly evaluating this system for our other locations,” said, Calvin Phillips, senior manager of Facilities, Southwest Airlines.
ERMC demonstrated the products at the Aviation Industry Expo held at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas.
