Two people were arrested and charged with initiation of methamphetamine manufacture on Monday in East Ridge. Michael Burchfield, 35, and Chasity McDonald, 32, both of East Ridge, were arrested at 803 Belvoir Ave. after police responded to a call about theft at the address.
East Ridge Police responded to the call on Monday afternoon. During the course of the investigation officers discovered the remnants of a methamphetamine lab in a trash can. An East Ridge narcotic detective was dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Police said another methamphetamine lab as well as many other items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine were found in the home. The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force was called to the scene to assist in the investigation and clean up. A hazardous material team was also dispatched to the scene to remove the meth lab and any other contaminated items. The home has been quarantined until the homeowner can properly abate the property.
Burchfield and Ms. McDonald were transported to the Hamilton County Jail and are being held on $25,000 bond each.
