Man Killed in Center Hill Boating Accident

A man died in a boating accident on Center Hill Lake Saturday.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Investigator Nuck Luper said it happened around 9:15 pm at the mouth of Raccoon Hollow near Hidden Harbor Marina.
The 22-foot Cobalt Runabout had three people aboard when it ran aground. Two passengers were ejected however Luper said the boat rolled over, pinning the driver and killing him instantly.

He was identified as Robert Shelby Schafer, 40, from Brentwood, Tenn.

The two passengers ejected and life flighted to Vanderbilt are Melinda McGee, 36, and John Carter Collins, 35, both of Nashville.

They were treated and released.

Luper said alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors to the accident, but the investigation continues.
