Vanderbilt Doctor Speaks At The Saturday Grundy GOP Election Headquarters Grand Opening

The Grundy County Republican Party will host an official grand opening party at their new 2012 Election Headquarters, at 424 W. Main in Monteagle, just inside the I-24 Flea Market Main Street entrance, on Saturday at 10 a.m. CST.  Vanderbilt surgeon Dr. Manish Sethi will be the guest speaker, the title of his talk: Why Every Tennessean Should Care: Healthcare Reform and the Future of Our State.

Dr. Sethi is a trauma surgeon at Vanderbilt University and was raised in Hillsboro, Tn. His mother and father practiced medicine in Manchester, Tn. for over 20 years and he attended high-school in Bell Buckle. He attended college at Brown University, and following one year as a Fulbright Scholar, went to Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sethi also completed his orthopedic surgical training while at Harvard University.

Dr. Sethi maintains an interest in healthcare reform and has been a consultant to the Agency for Healthcare and Research Quality as well as a Health Policy fellow for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He worked for and has been mentored by Senator Bill Frist, who convinced him at a young age to become a surgeon.

He has served as the National Chairman of the American Medical Association Resident and Fellow Section and has served on the Committee on Publications of the New England Journal of Medicine. He is currently director of the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute Center for Health Policy.

Grundy Republican Headquarters will be open Oct. 6-Nov. 6. Monday-Friday, 4-7 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 9 .a.m-1 p.m. For more information go to the website www.grundygop.org or call 931.871-6040.
