Chattanooga Women Against MS Luncheon Is Thursday

  • Monday, December 3, 2012

The Mid South Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold its 14th annual Women Against MS (WAMS) Luncheon this Thursday, at Stratton Hall which is a new event venue on Broad Street. The WAMS luncheon will welcome keynote speaker author Ronda Giangreco, who has written a new book, “The Gathering Table,” about her own journey with MS and her fightfor a world free of this disease.

The WAMS luncheon is co-chaired by Charlotte Lindeman and Ann Caldwell and is organized by a dedicated committee of local women from the Chattanooga area. The luncheon, which is designed to give women the opportunity to support other women in the fight against MS, will encourage women philanthropists and many others within the Chattanooga community to become better acquainted with the work of the National MS Society.

As women are affected by MS twice as often as men, the WAMS luncheon began as a way to bring concerned women together to support the vision of the National MS Society – a world free of multiple sclerosis. Nationwide, over400,000 people have been diagnosed with MS. The Mid South Chapter supports over 9,000 of these people and their families.“WAMS is a growing initiative for the National MS Society and is a focus for the Mid South Chapter,” said Mid South Chapter President, Stacey Mulder. “We are confident that these luncheons will grow and help us toward achieving our vision and mission.”

This year’s Chattanooga WAMS luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a complimentary wine reception for guests to enjoy upon their arrival. The event will also unveil a new ‘Take the Cake’ theme, as one lucky guest at each table will be selected to take the centerpiece, which will be a delectable cake prepared by a local bakery, home with them!

Tickets are $60 per seat or $480 per table of eight. The luncheon proceeds go toward funding for local chapter programs and national research focused on finding the cause and cure for MS. For more information on reservations please contact Katie Turner at 615/690-5323.
