  • Saturday, January 12, 2013

The City Council will consider a new five-member Water and Wastewater Treatment Authority on Jan. 22.

The new authority initially would include the city of Chattanooga's sewage treatment and stormwater operations, including the regional Moccasin Bend Sewage Treatment Plant.

The resolution would have five groups each name a member to the board.

They are the Association of General Contractors, the Chattanooga Homebuilders Association, the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce,  the Chattanooga Association of Realtors and the Chattanooga Manufacturers Association.

The initial board members would serve until June 30 when the new mayor and council could either endorse the panel or replace members.

There will be a new mayor and City Council makeup after the March 5 election.
