Memorial Considering Sale Of Its Ambulance Operation

  • Friday, March 15, 2013

Employees of Memorial Health Care System's ambulance service said they were told in a staff meeting this week that the hospital is looking into selling its EMS service to a Chattanooga competitor. Lifeguard Ambulance Service.

It would affect between 40-50 employees.

Memorial has the oldest ambulance service in Chattanooga running 25 years.

The EMS supervisor is Paul Feaster, and the EMS/ER director is Jody Thompson.

Sonia Moss, Memorial communications and online media coordinator, said, "No decision has been made to outsource EMS.

"Memorial routinely evaluates all its business units to identify ways to increase efficiency and reduce cost of operation, to ensure we are providing the highest level of care at the lowest cost. That’s how Memorial has been able to retain its standing as the highest-quality, lowest-cost provider in the Chattanooga region."
