Mary Frances Rivers Pinson Brown, 76, Of Dalton, GA, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 while at her residence with her family at her side.
She was employed by the Durham Public School System, and as a Durham County Agricultural Extension Agent. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia, a member of Church Women United, and a founding member of Abiding Savior Lutheran in Durham, N. C.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Curtis Rivers, Sr.; brother, Ray F. Betton; and first husband, Thomas F. Pinson, Sr.
Survivors are her husband, Robert L. Brown, Jr.; children, Thomas F. (Marian) Pinson, Jr. of Dalton, Mary Cecelia (Larry) Hall of Durham, NC, Verna (Myron) Lewandowski of Sharpsburg, GA and Lisha Williams of Dalton; mother, Eva Lou Rivers of Dalton; sisters, Claudette (Thomas) Rivers King of Atlanta and Teresa (Frank) Ray of Dalton; brothers, Curtis (Patricia) Rivers, Jr. of Dalton, Robert (Helen) Rivers of Fort Oglethorpe and David (Ollie) Betton of Decatur, GA; ten grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; special aunt, Mary Betton; uncle, James Lee Cooper; sister-in-law, Myrtle Betton of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, W. C. White of Cartersville, GA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 30, at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Scaife and other ministers officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
Her remains will lie in state Friday, March 29 after 11 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday, March 29 at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m.
