350 Expected To Attend Saturday March Against Monsanto

March Against Monsanto Chattanooga announced Friday that on on Saturday many concerned citizens will “March Against Monsanto.” The march will start at 2 p.m. at Miller Park, participants will march to Renaissance Park for a rally that will feature speakers Alex McGregor, Jami Brown, Garver Akers, and Rick Wright. 

Patricia Bazemore, lead organizer of the March Against Monsanto and founder of the Chattanooga affiliate of Move to Amend, said, “Over 40 countries ban or require labeling of genetically modified organisms. GMOs are in over 70% of our food in the US and it is being kept from us. I want to know what I am feeding my children.”

Jami Brown, social worker and master gardener said, “I am against the monopolization of seeds and the revolving door in government between Monsanto and our regulatory agencies and using the American people as guinea pigs for their science experiments with our food."

Alex McGregor has been an organic gardener and founded Walden Farm in 1991. Rick Wright is executive chef for the University of the South and has been awarded the USDA Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education grant. Garver Akers is an agroecologist, farmer, and cancer survivor.

People are marching all over the U.S. and 40 other countries.
