Dona Barnett
In-Town Gallery announces new artist Dona Barnett.
"Dona Barnett’s printmaking employs an innovative use of materials. For instance, 'And You Like Living Stones,' mixed media piece utilizes intaglio etchings, relief prints, monotypes on paper, thread, tissue, Nori paste and fusible webbing."
“My goal,” Ms. Barnett said, “is to pull the viewer into my quiet world and share my struggle to synthesize incongruous ideas. I pair opposites, often subtly, and work to create resolution.”
After 16 years working as a self-taught artist, Ms.
Barnett entered the University of North Carolina at Asheville, graduating with honors with a bachelor of fine arts in 2012. Since that time, she has focused on printmaking, using non-toxic techniques that she researched while studying traditional printmaking. She moved to Ringgold after living in Asheville for 41 years.
In-Town Gallery is located "Between the Bridges" on Chattanooga’s North Shore at 26A Frazier Ave. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and noon-5 p.m. on Sundays.
