Leldon "Buddy" Wade Nichols
Leldon "Buddy" Wade Nichols, 80, died peacefully on May 3, 2024.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1944, in Russellville, Al. He moved to Chattanooga upon entering Tennessee Temple University (TTU) and earning his B.A. (1967). Leldon also earned an M.A. at the University of Alabama (1969) and an Ed.D. at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (1977). Until December, 2023, Leldon taught doctoral students as an assistant professor at Liberty University’s School of Education online program. At TTU, he served as president, vice president of Academic Affairs, Dean of Arts and Sciences, and Psychology Department head. Further, he served as director of United Ministries Institute at Tyner United Methodist Church, founder/president of TITUS International Institute, and Director of International Chaplains Academy. Leldon was a contributing author for Public and Private School Administration: An Overview in Christian Perspective (Kendall Hunt, 2013), as well as co-authored Gluten Conspiracy (University Publishers, 2013).
Leldon was preceded in death by Leanne Roberson.
He is survived by his wife Delores Beery; his sister Shirley Nichols; his children Lee Roberson Nichols and Sunday Caroline Rowell; and his grandchildren, Gabriella, Ethan, Emma, Everett, and Collier.
On May 21, at Tyner United Methodist Church, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, friends are invited to greet the family at 5 p.m. and attend a service honoring the life of Leldon Nichols at 7 p.m.
