Janie Allison
Janie Ruth Allison, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
She was a cherished resident of Alexian Village. Born on May 14, 1931, to Adolph and Ettie Mae Allison, Janie was a longtime resident of Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
Janie began her career with South Central Bell as a teenager and dedicated her entire working life to the company, retiring after decades of loyal service. She was a hardworking and dependable employee, admired by colleagues for her dedication and professionalism.
A gifted gardener, Janie had a remarkable ability to cultivate beauty and nourishment from the soil. Her yard was always full of colorful flowers and thriving vegetables, and she generously shared the fruits of her labor with friends and neighbors. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of tending her garden and cheering on her beloved Atlanta Braves.
Janie was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Ettie Mae Allison; her sister, Shirley Lemons Steffner; and her niece, Terry Lemons, all of Chattanooga.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Thursday, July 17, in Chattanooga Memorial Park (Duck Pond) with Reverend Margaret Ferguson officiating.
