Hixson now has its own dedicated yoga studio with the opening of Hixson Community Yoga Center at 5228 Hixson Pike, Suite C, in Hixson. The studio officially opened its doors on July 1, and offers a variety of weekly yoga classes designed for beginners and experienced students alike.
"Centrally located three minutes north on Hixson Pike from the Northgate Mall, now yoga is more
accessible to Hixson residents without the need to travel into downtown Chattanooga," officials said.
Owner Debbie Parsons wanted to create a friendly community space that is just as welcoming and
comfortable for brand new students to come as it is for well experienced yogis, she said.
"The studios’ overall intention is simply wellness," Ms.
Parsons said, "I want all who attend a class to walk away
feeling better than when they came on all the layers that we exist; physically, mentally and emotionally."
The studio currently offers 13 classes each week, including Gentle Yoga, Yoga Basics, Slow Flow, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga. They also offer monthly specialty classes such as Yoga Nidra and Sound Bath Meditations, as well as the occasional guest instructor bringing unique workshops and events focused on mindfulness, relaxation and holistic health.
Officials said, "Debbie has been instructing yoga and meditation for over 18 years in many different capacities and styles, and is committed to meet each student where they are at."
“Yoga can be done by anybody, and our goal is to help people find both strength and peace in their everyday lives.”
Classes are open to drop-ins, and packages are available. Schedules and updates can be found on the
