Two-time Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist, arranger and composer Alan Broadbent will perform a solo piano concert Thursday, Sept. 11, at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Roland Hayes Concert Hall, with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting WUTC-FM 88.1.
The concert was made possible by a gift from Ken and Nancy Dryden.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance can be purchased online at utc.edu/arts-and-sciences/fine-arts-center and through the UTC Fine Arts Center Box Office—in person or by phone at 423-425-4269.
VIP seating in the lower center sections is $35, all other adult tickets are $25 and student tickets are $15 with a valid student ID.
The UTC Fine Arts Center is located at the intersection of Dr. Roland Carter Street (formerly Vine Street) and Palmetto Street on the UTC campus.
Mr. Broadbent, a New Zealand native, is known for his work as a soloist, leader, composer and arranger. He has performed with a wide range of artists throughout his career, including Charlie Haden’s Quartet West, Chet Baker, Sheila Jordan, Bud Shank, Warne Marsh, Woody Herman’s Thundering Herd, Irene Kral, Diane Schuur, Diana Krall and Natalie Cole.
"He is highly sought after as an arranger and conductor for large ensembles and string orchestras, writing and conducting for Marian McPartland, Krall, Cole and Shirley Horn," organizers said.
His orchestral arrangements for Ms. Cole’s “When I Fall in Love” and Horn’s “Lonely Town” earned him Grammy Awards for Best Orchestral Arrangement Accompanying a Vocal.
Mr. Broadbent’s career has spanned performances and collaborations with some of the most celebrated names in jazz and popular music—including Paul McCartney, Glenn Frey, Linda Ronstadt and Rod Stewart. He has toured internationally, recorded extensively and is a Savant Records artist.
