PBS KIDS 24/7 channel is now available on EPB Fi TV channel 304. The channel, also available free over the air on 45.3, features educational children’s programs like Wild Kratts, Lyla in the Loop, Carl the Collector, and many more.
“We want to thank EPB for their quick action in making this change that will benefit families in the Tennessee Valley. PBS KIDS provides the very best in educational media for our youngest viewers,” said Bob Culkeen, president & CEO of WTCI PBS.
The change took effect on July 8, after WTCI PBS made the decision to discontinue WTCI Educate programming on EPB channel 304 and to stop broadcasting on the 45.4 subchannel over the air.
Officials said, "WTCI Educate was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to bring the classroom experience into our homes.
WTCI Educate featured locally-produced lessons, educational content and the WORLD channel. As schools returned to regular schedules, the scope of WTCI Educate shifted.
"Many of our educational resources are now available through PBS LearningMedia, the PBS app and PBS KIDS, as well as through our community engagement events, our teacher training workshops and our kids’ block on our main channel, 45.1. Our locally-produced educational content is now designed primarily for digital distribution.
"As the number one educational media brand for kids, PBS KIDS helps children ages two to eight learn lessons that last a lifetime. PBS KIDS wants children to see themselves uniquely reflected and celebrated in lovable, diverse characters who serve as positive role models. The PBS KIDS 24/7 channel on EPB Fi TV 304 brings the best of PBS KIDS programming to Tennessee Valley families on their schedule."
