10 Year Remembrance Tribute On The River For The Fallen Five Is July 16

  • Friday, July 11, 2025

The Chattanooga Area Veterans Council will present a Ten Year Remembrance Tribute to the Fallen Five this coming Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Tennessee Riverpark, The Wreath of Honor.

“It’s hard to believe but this is the tenth year since July 16, 2015, which is a date that is engrained in the memory of every Chattanoogan and so it’s very important that we never forget the sacrifices made on that date by four U. S. Marines and a U. S. Navy Sailor,” said Captain Mickey McCamish, U. S. Navy (Retired), who will emcee the program.

The program will include the placement of wreaths by U. S. Marines and U. S. Navy personnel at the Five Pillars of the Wreath of Honor. Remarks will be made by U. S. Marine Corps Brigadier General Kevin Jarrard, Commanding General of U. S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve, Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp, CAVC President Bill Norton and Commander Tim White, U. S. Navy (Retired), who was the Commanding Officer of the Navy Operations Support Center when the terrorist attack occurred.

Additionally, Melissa Bayless will sing the National Anthem and U. S. Navy Commander Diron Cundiff on bagpipes will close the program by playing “Amazing Grace.”
