The J.A. Henry Community YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga, is expanding its Free Summer Food Program to include meal service at the local Boys & Girls Club, ensuring more children in the community receive consistent, nutritious meals throughout the summer.
“Healthy children come from healthy families, and our partnership with the YMCA has enabled our organization to feed more children in a very efficient manner,” said Jim Morgan, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chattanooga.
Children attending the Boys & Girls Club locations in Chattanooga will receive free lunches through the Summer Food Program, which runs through July 25.
The program is open to all children ages five-12.
“Partnering with the Boys & Girls Club this summer means we can help serve even more children,” said Paula Irwin, executive director of the J.A. Henry Community YMCA. “By expanding our reach, we’re able to bring healthy meals to even more kids who need them most. Our team prepares, packs and delivers hundreds of thousands of meals each year, and partnerships like this one help us create more impact in our community.”
More than 70 meal distribution sites are now participating across Bradley, Hamilton, Polk, Rhea and Sequatchie counties in Tennessee and Walker and Catoosa counties in North Georgia. The YMCA’s Free Summer Food Program is one of the largest initiatives of its kind in the region.
Meals are available to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. A full list of dates, times and participating sites can be found online
