Joe Edward “Buddy” Bates Sr., 69, of Cleveland, TN, passed Sunday August 11, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mr. Bates was a lifelong resident Bradley county a veteran of the U.S. Army serving four years.
He was preceded in death by his father Joe Bates.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sarah Ann Bates; two sons Joe. E. Bates Jr., of Cleveland and James D. Bates and his wife Rebecca of Fountain, CO; three granddaughters; two grandsons; three great-grandsons; his mother Carrie Bates; and four sisters, Ruth and Norman Boring, Carolyn and Ron Culbreath, Virginia and Doyle Hawkins and Dorothy and Daniel Yarbor.
There are no formal services scheduled however at the visitation Rev. J.C. Eller and Dr. Oliver McMahan will say some words of comfort to the family and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
