  • Monday, September 30, 2013

Sigma Chi Fraternity Sunday participated in the Feed My Starving Children event, a global Christian hunger charity that donates meals to missions running orphanages, schools, clinics, and feeding programs in nearly 70 countries.

On Sunday the fraternity organized 50 people to participate, including fraternity brothers, sorority girls and friends. They met the fraternity house at 10 a.m. and cooked breakfast and socialized for an hour.  Then the group headed to Boyd Buchannan School to participate in the event.

The event time slot on Sunday had over 300 participants and packed a total of 109,000 meals from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  At the end of the volunteering they went over the numbers of how many children were going to be fed with their efforts and everyone was humbled, officials said. FMCS last day is Monday and at the end of the session 1.3 million meals had been packed over the week.
