Fourth Edition of Hixson-Hixon Genealogy Book is Now Available

An updated genealogy of the Hixson-Hixon family has recently been compiled and published by Norma Jean Hobbs of Dunlap, Tennessee.  The Hixson-Hixon family has numerous members and relatives residing in Hamilton County and the surrounding area, including the Tennessee counties of Bledsoe, Sequatchie, and Marion and the Georgia counties of Walker and Dade. 

The current update is the fourth edition of the book, with previous editions having been published in 1940, 1955, and 1992, and it includes a number of branches of the family that were not included in the previous editions.  The book has more than 700 pages, old photographs, and an index.  Mrs.

Hobbs is a member of the Bledsoe County Historical and Genealogical Society and has done extensive genealogical work and has participated in efforts to transcribe and preserve historical records.  She was instrumental in preparing the Society’s second pictorial history book which received an award from the East Tennessee Historical Society.

Mrs. Hobbs will have copies of her book available for purchase at the Hixson-Hixon Family Reunion which is being held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.  The price is $55.00 plus sales tax.  Shipping arrangements can be made by contacting Mrs. Hobbs.
