The Jericho Brass, under the direction of Frank Hale, and the Symphonic Concert Band from CSAS directed by David Butler, will perform a joint concert at the School of Arts and Science, 865 E. 3rd St. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public.  Each band will have the stage to perform their own music and then combine in playing a couple tunes as the evening draws to a close.

The Jericho Brass has accepted the challenge of sharing Brass Band music with the young musicians in Chattanooga and surrounding communities.

Brass bands are experiencing a comeback in the U.S.A., said officials.  At one time in history just about every community and business had a brass band.  Brass bands played an important role in the Civil War.   It wasn't until large concert bands under the direction of Sousa, Gilmore and Fillmore and the formation of Symphony Orchestras in the late 1800's that Brass Bands began to fade away.
