Wilma Hydas
Wilma Hydas, 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Sunday, October 19, 2014.
She was the daughter of the late William Creed Hartbarger and Ruby Kathleen Morgan Hartbarger and was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hydas, two sons, Jimmy Keith, Jack Keith, daughter, Linda Kearns and brother, Bill Hartbarger.
Wilma was a longtime member of Silverdale Baptist Church where she served on the drama committee for 30 years and the church library staff for 25 years.
She retired from BASF after 40 years having worked as the switch board operator.
She was president of the American Gold Star Mother's Inc. in the Scenic Area Chapter of Northwest Geogia.
Survivors include her son, Mark (Laura) Hydas, of McDonald, five grandchildren, Dr. Rodney (Mandy) Keith, Tommy Kearns, Bryan Kearns, Hunter (Alex) Hydas, Zach (Christina) Hydas, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, five siblings, Violet Morris, Frances Crowe, both of Chattanooga, Sandra Brown, of Mentone, Al., Donald King, of Wildwood, Ga., Gary King, of Greenville, S.C., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Tony Walliser officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Silverdale Baptist Church, Benevolence Fund.
