Gary Randall Smith, age 63, of Soddy Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2014.

He was a wonderful husband, father, Pawpaw and friend to many. He lived in Soddy Daisy all of his life. He was a contract bus driver for the Hamilton County School system for 43 years. He drove bus #9 for Red Bank, Signal Mountain, Allen Elementary, Falling Water Elementary, Soddy Elementary, Soddy Daisy Middle School and Soddy Daisy High School. He attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lee Smith and Mildred Ruth Davis Smith; and sister, Wilma Smith Eustice. 

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Susan Creighton Smith; daughter Amy Smith Alley; son-in-law Raun Alley; grandson, Randall Evan Alley; sisters Ruth (Robert) Sholtz and Norma (Clifford) Dodd; aunt Almeda Davis, all of Soddy Daisy; mother-in-law, Ernestine Creighton; brothers-in-law, Ross (Lorie) Creighton and Sandy Creighton, all of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bobby Webb, Reverend Wade Miller and Reverend Melvin Walker officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery in Soddy Daisy. Pallbearers will be Jerry Prevatt, Brad Higgins, Paul Pritchett, Gene Pritchett, Steven Shetter and Seth Alley. Honorary pallbearers will be the contract bus drivers of Hamilton County.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 12-9 p.m. and Sunday, from 12-2 p.m. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Love, Dr. Zellner and the nursing staff at Erlanger Hospital for their kindness and support.
