Here is the fishing report from the TWRA:
Chickamauga Reservoir: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 682.0 feet. Winter normal elevation: 676.0 feet. Current elevation: 679.1 feet. The water surface temperature is in the mid 60’s to upper 60’s depending on time of day and location. Largemouth Bass: Grass mats and weedless topwater lures such as rats is the most popular pattern. Some think the shallowest water is best and others think that a ten foot edge along the grass is what is needed.
Smallmouth Bass: Upper reservoir anglers are catching just a few while using crankbaits near humps and along the riprap banks.
Crappie: Minnows, jigs are being used along select bluff walls. Docks are also popular. River banks are the most popular.
Striped bass: Shad, jigs, and swimbaits are being used to catch stripers. Some days have been good and other days there has not been many fish caught.
Bluegill: Bluff walls and upper lake river channels are being fished by anglers using worms to catch many fish. Docks are also popular locations to find bluegill.
Catfish: Meaty baits are being used in the river reservoir wide to catch a lot of fish.
Dale Hollow: Fishing is good. Water temperature is 66; lake is falling.
Bass: Lots of bass are being caught on Alabama rigs while fishing near schooling shad on drops.
Crappie: Several crappie are being caught on the rivers around laydown brush in 15-to-20 feet of water on minnows.
Bluegill: Several bluegill and shellcrackers are being caught on nightcrawlers around grass in 10 feet of water.
Great Falls: Fishing is slow. Water level is extremely low; water temperaturet is 66 degrees.
Bass: A few bass are being caught on topwater baits around laydown trees.
Crappie: A few crappie are being caught on jigs and minnows around falling trees .
Musky: A few musky are being caught on large jerkbaits around standing timber.
Watts Bar: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 740.5 feet. Winter normal elevation: 736.0 feet. Current elevation: 740.9 feet. The water surface temperature is in the upper to mid 60’s.
Largemouth Bass: Bass are moving into more shallow water. Some schooling activity is occurring. Topwater lures, crank baits, and spoons are being used.
Smallmouth Bass: More smallmouth are being caught than last week. Most anglers are using the same lures in the same locations as they are for largemouth.
Walleye: Some reports of an occasional walleye being caught at night.
Sauger: 1 or 2 fish are being caught by anglers. Not much more than that though. minnows fished along the bottom in the dead water of the tailwaters.
Crappie: 10 to 15 feet of water near brush while using minnows is the best pattern. Stringers have not been heavy.
Catfish: Drifters in the main channel are catching plenty of fish. Meaty baits from various sources are being used.
Striped bass: Some stripers are being caught in the Clinch River and near the Ft. Loudon Tailwaters. Shad is the best bait.
