Chattanooga State Announces Midnight Madness Winners

  • Monday, October 6, 2014

Fans and spectators filled the ChattState gym on Thursday during its first-ever Midnight Madness.

Local DJ Gary Mac announced the teams while scrimmages, a 3-point shootout, and a dunk contest went off like clockwork.  Free food and T-shirts were snapped up shortly after the doors opened.

After a competition between Deja Jackson, Sydney Sims, and Kiera Jones, Jackson emerged as the winner of the 3-point shootout. Montrell McKenzie out slammed his teammates Tramon Moore and Chaunce Watikins to win the dunk contest. Both players received a ChattState Tigers shirt for their win from ChattState Athletic Director Kim Smith.

Although ChattState’s basketball season officially opened on Saturday during a jamboree in Lithonia, Ga., the first home game will find the Tigers pitted against the Saluqis of Southwest Tennessee Community College on Nov. 7. Women play at 5:30 p.m. and men begin at 7:30 p.m.
