Promoting and supporting education is one of the objectives to which the Daughters of the American Revolution are dedicated.  The Judge David Campbell Chapter in Chattanooga has presented checks for three High School Equivalency Test scholarships – two for the Chattanooga State Adult Education Program and one for the TriCounty Adult Education Program in Kimball, Tenn.

Suzanne Elston, director of Chattanooga State’s Adult Education Program, and Hannah Brewer, Adult Education site coordinator at St. Andrews Center, gave Judge David Campbell chapter members a tour of their facility on Lee Highway.  They stated that the English-as-a-Second-Language students are highly motivated.  The students take preparation classes to learn civics, U.S. law and history which not only help them pass the test to earn their diplomas, but also prepares those who are working toward U.S. citizenship.

The Tri-County Adult Education Program in Kimball serves Sequatchie, Marion, and Grundy County adults who need to improve their basic skills and obtain high school equivalent diplomas.  The program is under the direction of Charlotte Cain.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for the nation's children.
