Ronald Forrest Wolfe, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died on Saturday, November 22.
He was born on October 21, 1946 to Comer and Robbie Wolfe in Nashville. His childhood years were spent in Albertville, Al. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga where he was a captain of the football team and president of the senior class. Shortly after graduation he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a helicopter pilot. From the time he was a young man, he put his heart and soul into everything he did. After his military service he had a successful career with IBM and later started his own technology services company in Alabama. He enjoyed working with his hands whether it was in the garden, on the farm, or most recently renovating a historic farmhouse. His grandsons were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Goodwin Wolfe; his children, Matthew (Christine) Wolfe, Sr. of Decatur, Georgia, his daughter, Erin Wolfe (Karen McBride) of Chattanooga, and their mother, Pamela Milner Wolfe Gallagher; stepson, Payton (Tiffany) Goodwin of Tallassee, Al.; sister, Charlice Wolfe Miller of Lilburn, Ga.; brother, Gerald (Betty) Wolfe of Simpsonville, S.C.; and grandsons, Benjamin Wolfe, Christian Wolfe, Matthew Wolfe, Jr., Brody Goodwin, Macon Goodwin, and Caleb Goodwin. There are numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pat Wolfe McDaniel.
Burial will be on Friday, Nov. 28, at 11:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, followed by a visitation from 1-3 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home – East Chapel in East Ridge.
