CityCampCHA Is Coming In January

  • Friday, December 19, 2014

Open Chattanooga and The 4th Floor are hosting a City Camp Unconference on Jan. 8 and 9, 2015 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the downtown branch of the Chattanooga Public Library. It is designed to bring together citizens, community organizers, and city government officials in an open environment where they can develop ideas and plans of action to address issues around safety in the Chattanooga area.

The keynote speaker for CityCampCHA will be Catherine Bracy, director of Community Organizing
for Code For America. With a resume that includes having been product manager and director of the
Obama campaign's technology field office in San Francisco and administrative director at Harvard’s
Berkman Center for Internet & Society, Ms. Bracy brings experience and insight into organizing
citizens around technology.

The majority of the unconference will consist of a series of open space style breakout sessions whose subject matter and direction are determined by those attending the unconference. Before each session, those who wish to facilitate a topic for discussion will pitch the idea to the room and the topics with the most interest will become the focus of the breakout sessions throughout the day. Several sessions will be occurring simultaneously. Participants are encouraged to move between discussions and cross pollinate ideas.

The goal of CityCampCHA is to allow for every voice to be heard and for every idea to be explored in the interest of using technology, resources, and the power of people to build a safer city for everyone.

Registration is free and open to the public at www.CityCampCHA.com. Lunch for both days will be
provided for those who register in advance.

Open Chattanooga is a collaborative between the City of Chattanooga, the Chattanooga Public Library
and the Open Chattanooga Brigade. For more information about Open Chattanooga, go to
