World War II Navy Veteran Was A Retired Carpenter

Clarence E. Wilson, 95, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, December 22, 2014. 

Clarence was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and a former resident of Summit View Senior Community.  He served our country during World War II in the Unites States Navy.  Clarence was a retired carpenter and a member of the Local 74.  He was a former member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Red Bank. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wilson and parents, Willie and Mary Edna Wilson; siblings, Hugh, Reecie, and Elmer Wilson, Ella Mae Lewis, Iva Chauncey, Effie Neighbors and Ida Hawkins. 

Clarence is survived by his sisters, Alma Mullins and Mary Lee (Jim) Smith and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A celebration of life service will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Dwight Martin and Chaplain Reggie Asplund officiating. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Soddy Daisy Healthcare Facility for their love and support given to Clarence. 

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the building fund at Calvary Baptist Church, 5201 Dayton Blvd., Red Bank, Tn. 37415. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
