Man With Lengthy Rap Sheet Charged In Rite Aid Holdup

  • Monday, December 29, 2014

A Chattanooga man with an extensive criminal record has been charged in a holdup at the Rite Aid on Highway 153.

John Patrick Temple, 42, of 9102 Hundley Road, was charged with aggravated robbery.

In an incident on Dec. 21, a white male entered the pharmacy at the Rite Aid wearing a toboggan and gunglasses and carrying a backpack. He approached the pharmacist and pulled out a piece of paper saying he had a prescription.

At that point, he produced a black pistol and jumped the counter. He demanded morphine pills and was led to the safe.

He ordered the pharmacist to fill the bag with pill bottles and received Oxycontin, Fentanyl, Oxycodone and Opana pills.

The robber left the pharmacy on foot behind the business.

After the surveillance pictures were shown by the media, an anonymous tipster said they were very sure the robber was Temple. Also, a female in the store five minutes before the robbery was identified as his girlfriend, Melissa Pruett.

Police said mugshot photos of Temple matched the suspect.

The victim last Wednesday positively identified John Temple as the suspect who robbed her at the pharmacy.
